About Our Worship Services
Wherever you may be in your spiritual journey, you can find your place at First Baptist Fort Valley Here, you will meet people from various backgrounds and from all walks of life. You will find real people with real life stories of how God changed their lives through Jesus. You will meet a group of Christ-followers committed to being the hands and feet of Christ in the world. You will have a chance to participate in powerful worship through music and prayer, hear life changing teaching, connect with the body of Christ and be equipped to go out and change the world.
We seek to remain faithful to the stream of Christian and Baptist heritage that has shaped us. We honor the traditions of the church -- the creeds, the hymns, the liturgies, the preaching -- but we offer something different as well. Led by our Praise Band, this service of worship draws from contemporary styles of Christian music and integrates video, drama and art to help tell the timeless story of the love of Christ for all the world.
Our service style is casual, but we are serious about our desire to connect with the Lord. Each week our worship includes a message from the Bible, inspirational music, personal and group prayer times, and an opportunity to respond to the Lord through tithes and offerings. On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate the Lord's Supper together as a way of highlighting our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus. (For an explanation of the meaning of the Lord's Supper, click here.) We worship and break bread together on every fifth Sunday during the year with a inspiring contemporary service.
Our Pastor’s messages are exciting, challenging and timely. Each time we get together, we are challenged with messages on our God-given responsibilities to each other and our community. On Wednesday evening we offer the opportunity to tune up our walk with God and spend time in prayer. Together, we pray for the needs of our church body and the community.
We provide a nursery and child care for younger children. Children in pre-school through second grade meet with adults in worship until offertory then have their own worship time with Bible study, games and crafts.
At First Baptist we love to worship through music! Sunday Morning Service is filled with vibrant and worshipful variations of music. We offer a mixture of classic hymns and contemporary songs that have blessed us for generations. For those who desire to be involved in our music ministry, we have multiple opportunities for service.
Our Wednesday prayer meetings are a special time to cultivate that intimate personal relationship with God that He created us for. It's a time of sharing and encouragement on a more personal level with our brothers and sisters in Christ. It's also a time to invite the Holy Spirit to show us God's direction and purpose in our lives. In short, pausing the world outside to connect on the inside.
We are excited to have guests worship with us, and we don't want you to feel embarrassed or out of place. Our members are friendly, so you can expect to be greeted warmly. But we won't call you out in front of the group. We do ask that you would fill out one of our Comment Cards to let us know who you are and how we can help you along in your journey toward knowing Christ.
